General knowledge, one year at a time
A short list of things worth knowing for every age from 3 to 18 — and a quiz that checks whether they stuck.
Groundwork collects nothing. No accounts, no adverts, no analytics, no tracking. The app makes no network connections at all. Everything happens on the device, and your progress never leaves it.
How it works
Pick an age. Each year has its own short list of facts across a set of subjects, a deck of cards to study them, and a quiz drawn from that year only. From age four onwards you can also quiz on everything so far, which is how you find out what faded.
Which subjects appear when
Subjects arrive as they become age-appropriate rather than all at once. Ages 3 to 5 carry seven subjects, matching the seven areas of learning in England's Early Years Foundation Stage. More arrive at 6, and all seventeen from age 8.

Beyond the year
Older children get a second, separate section of wider general knowledge, drawn from public data. It is deliberately kept apart from the year-by-year material and is not taught anywhere in the app — it is there for reading around the subject, with no score to beat.
Where the facts come from
The written facts are our own. The wider question bank is generated from Wikidata, released into the public domain under CC0, and from Wikipedia, licensed CC BY-SA. Only facts are used, never wording.
